Sorry I haven't been posting much lately; however I've been working hard at improving my traditional art skills with acrylics and oils. I'll be posting images of some of latest traditional work soon.
I recently finished a painting for my sis of the deck in her back yard, surrounded by woods. Its called "Forest Deck". It's now framed and matted and hanging in her home. This one I worked on for over a year until I got it looking like I wanted it.
I was in the mood for something with an animal tonight. So I searched my files and came up with this image I captured several years ago at our local zoo and I've been working on manipulating it - slight digital painting, textured and added a TTV "look" to the finished image.
I'm calling it "Look of the Lioness".
Prints of this image can be configured like this (or anyway you wish) and purchased at my Fine Art America Site.
I've been returning to my photography roots recently and working on some of my photographs. This image called "Porch Chair" was captured during a visit to a beautiful old plantation in South Alabama in the fall of 2010. The image has been slightly digitally painted and grungy layers added as well as a TTV look. TTV or through the Viewfinder is a popular style right now.
The image framed and matted as shown (or however you wish) can be ordered and shipped to your home through my Fine Art America shop: http://fineartamerica.com/featured/porch-chair-shirley-dawson.html
I've been working on some new ACEO Card ideals. Here's one I've created for my daughter who loves the book of Ruth and this verse. She has recently redone her office and this will be in a cool frame on her new accent table there. It will be 5x7 in size for her.
I've been working hard to populate my shop at Artfire.com.

Well, life has been pretty busy lately, but I'm still managing to find some time for painting. Mostly I've been working on several "mini" art pieces, namely ACEO cards. ACEO stand for Art Cards, Editions and Originals. These are small works of art the size of a baseball card, 2.5"x 3.5". Originally know as Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) and traded amongst artists themselves, the ACEO's are now purchased by consumers and art lovers as fine art collectibles the world over. Prices range from a mere few dollars to hundreds of dollars. I've been creating my cards with traditional wet media, mostly acrylic paints and placing them in my online art store at Artfire.com. You can see them at this link:
I've attended a couple of really nice abstract workshops recently, one taught by Gerry Delongchamp of the Pine Bluff Art League and one this past Saturday taught by Nina Burke of North Little Rock. I'm finding that I do enjoy this type of work. I've also created lots of mini domino art pendants for the League fundraiser this year (many of them abstracts). Here's an image of some of my art pendants I will have on display and for sale at the PBAL "Abstract Showcase and Reception" this Friday in Pine Bluff. Also, here's an image of one of my textured wall abstracts will be on display also.

Here's my finished "View from a Picnic" acrylic painting, matted and framed which will soon be hanging in the Pine Bluff Art League's gallery in Pine Bluff for sale.
I've been working on a traditional acrylic painting at the art league studio. This is my latest work in progress "Field of Gold". Hopefully I'll be able to finish it by the end of next week.
